Welcome!
My goal with these tutorials is to provide beginner (and some intermediate) tips and techniques so that you’re able to create your own 3D acrylic paint art; They provide hours of video learning. Complete mastery of paint piping is not an expected outcome after finishing this tutorial; Rather, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge of a wide range of tips and techniques in order to begin your flower paint piping journey. Mastery comes with practice, and this tutorial will give you the tools needed to start and continue on your journey!
*Scroll to the bottom to see the final pieces we’ll create with what you learn!
I am so excited that you’re interested in learning from me! I have filmed, edited, and explained my process to the best of my abilities and I firmly believe that my guidance will help teach you what you need to know to make your own art!
When you sign up, you will have instant access to a complete supply list with links including products to make your thick paint even thicker, a discount code to purchase thick paint from my favorite heavy textured paint company, and of course, all of the video lessons. The tutorials will be hosted on Podia, where you can watch and re-watch as many times as you’d like.
Phase 1. Covers: rosettes, two types of hydrangeas, roses (and dual-toned roses), sunflowers, and leaves. We then create a rosette bouquet, an hydrangea puffs painting, and a full bouquet using our roses, hydrangeas, sunflowers and leaves.
Phase 2. This covers the next round of flowers that I’ve added after the release of Phase 1. So far, the next release included in phase 2 contains learning to pipe semi-bloomed peonies, orchids and poppies. Next up: carnations, followed by daffodils. More flowers will follow over the weeks and months for no additional cost. They’re included with your original payment.
Phase 3. In the future, this will entail a variety of tips and tricks including: how to make other bouquets, different materials I use (including but not limited to metal and mica flakes, mica powders, various pigments, resins, how to make thick paint even thicker, etc.) Essentially a collection of extraneous things I’ve learned over the years.
Please read through what will be covered in this tutorial (and please note, this is only available in English at this time and there are no subtitles):
Supplies. What supplies you use will depend on where you’re located in the world. There are many tools I use to create and many of them will be discussed in this video. I use three main acrylic mediums for my piped flowers. One of them ships internationally, but comes with import taxes, so I’ve found alternatives. For international customers, at least one of alternative products should be available on Amazon (even some of your local stores) though I cannot 100% guarantee that. For US customers, all of these products are available to you. Tools and materials will be linked. Please message me with any questions or concerns about it supplies before you purchase the tutorial.
Piping different flowers: I will cover the piping techniques on creating a variety of flowers including: Roses, hydrangeas, sunflowers, rosettes, peonies, orchids, poppies, dahlias and dahlia-type flowers, carnations, daisies, daffodils, simple side view flowers, lilies and various types of leaves.
Piping Rosettes. Full bouquet tutorial. 29 minutes. Phase 1. Rosettes are simple and satisfying. After a few tries, you’ll catch on quickly and get comfortable with how your medium works.
Piping Roses. 21 minutes. Phase 1. There are endless ways to pipe roses, all with subtle and varying results. I’m going to show you how to make my favorite styles, as well as how to pipe dual toned roses.
Piping hydrangeas. Two color tutorials. 15 minutes & 13 minutes respectively. Phase 1. A fan favorite, these four petaled flowers can be arranged to make some seriously beautiful blooms. I’ll show you how I move my piping tip and arm to make hydrangeas in my style, and how to create a natural looking gradient (this takes practice)!
Piping sunflowers. 27 minutes. Phase 1. I’ll show you two ways to make a sunflower, including how to make them as realistic looking as possible. The first, a more beginner technique and the second, a slightly more advanced technique.
Piping Leaves. 20 minutes. Phase 1. There are so many ways to make leaves! I will cover which tips I use to make which leaves, and how to get that beautiful, variegated look.
Piping Orchids. Phase 2. A real patience tester, but so worth it when it all clicks.
Piping Peonies. Phase 2. There are so many ways to make peonies. In my first release, I teach how to make a structured, semi-bloomed peony. In the future, I’ll release another tutorial on how to make fluffier peonies as well as peony buds.
Piping poppies. Phase 2. A well loved flower by many, and one of the most fun and easy to create. I’ll show you a couple of different ways to make these.
Piping carnations. Phase 2. These ruffly blooms make for great filler flowers and can be piped “freely” and with abandon. They’re a fun, simple flower to create.
Piping Daffodils. Phase 2. Perfect for spring, you’ll have some time to hone your daffodils! They come in a variety of colors, so you’ll be able to choose whichever colors you like. I’ll be covering white daffodils with buttercup yellow centers.
Piping daisies. Phase 2. Expected in June 2024. One of the happiest flowers, we’ll cover making simple white and yellow shasta daisies.
Piping “dahlia type” flowers. Phase 2. Expected July 2024. These can look very impressive once you get the technique down. I’ll show you two different ways to make dahlias or dahlia type flowers.
Piping Lilies. Phase 2. Expected August 2024. Learn how to make my realistic lilies. It took me years to figure out how to best make these! It’s not what you’d expect.
Creating a Rosette Bouquet. Phase 1. This part of the tutorial coincides with the “Piping Rosettes” tutorial and will help you to get comfortable with the acrylic mediums. We’ll piece our flowers together on canvas to make a small rosette bouquet. You’ll the satisfaction of creating something tangible and beautiful. This is a piece that is meant to be made fairly quickly and will give you confidence in your paint piping ability.
Creating an “Hydrangea Puffs” painting. Phase 1. Hydrangea puffs are one of my most popular and quick-selling paintings. They’re fairly simple to create and the outcome is beautiful! Please note: making an hydrangea puff requires a lot of paint. There is a way to make them with slightly less paint and I’ll discuss this in the tutorial.
Creating a bouquet painting. Phase 1. It’s time to use the flowers we created! We’re going to make a bouquet with roses, hydrangeas and sunflowers filled with leaves.
Disclosure: I’m so used to filming for social media, that the initial tutorials were shot in portrait mode rather than landscape; Meaning they were shot vertically rather than horizontally. Think Instagram video versus YouTube video. The videos can still be enlarged to “full screen” but do not span the width of the allotted format. The newer videos are all shot in landscape mode.
Keep in mind! Paint piping is not considered an inexpensive hobby, especially if you don’t already have a handful of supplies. The initial costs of piping tips, paints, canvases and other supplies can add up. When I started, if I wasn’t happy with a flower, I scraped off my paint and put it in a bag to reuse. That said, once you have all your supplies, you’ve got what you need to pipe indefinitely and can purchase more in the future as needed! This journey opened me up to a world of opportunities and I hope you find happiness and joy in creating from the floral tutorial!
